This course is designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of Information Technology (IT) at the Advance Level (A-Level) and thereafter prepare the students to successfully complete external CAPE Certificate Examination. The main goals of this course are: ● Develop an awareness of the importance of information in the solutions of many problems. ● Develop a critical attitude to gathering, processing, and evaluating information. ● Develop a broad understanding of hardware, software, networks, databases, information systems and its users. ● Sensitise students to the use of Information Technology (IT) in problem solving, decision making and its impact on their daily lives. ● Develop an awareness of the benefits and pitfalls of Information Technology (IT). ● Develop an awareness of the ethical, legal, and political considerations associated with Information Technology (IT). ● Assist students in solving real-life problems using the tools and techniques of Information Technology (IT). ● Encourage students to use information sources and services to retrieve, interpret and communicate information. ● Develop a positive attitude to new and emerging technologies in Information Technology (IT).
