This course introduces students to fundamentals behind the Chemistry of life. It covers essential reactions of carbon-based compounds in the field of Organic Chemistry. Students will understand on a chemical level the various reactions that are responsible for processes encountered in our everyday lives. Students will also encounter the ways in which our utilization of chemistry in important industrial processes affect the natural processes ongoing in our environment. The course also challenges students to critically examine ways in which green chemistry principles can help to create a more sustainable economy.
